Journal Impact Factor Finder

The Journal Impact Factor Finder is designed for situations where you know the type of metric range you are looking for but do not yet have a specific journal in mind. Use the filters to narrow the directory by available JIF values, metric year, quartile or publisher.

How to use the finder

Start with one or two filters rather than making the search too narrow. For example, you might select a metric year and a JIF range, then review the results before applying a quartile or publisher filter. This makes it easier to see how many journals are available within the current dataset.

What the results mean

The Journal Impact Factor is a journal-level citation metric reported in Journal Citation Reports. A higher JIF does not automatically mean that a journal is the best choice for every manuscript. Citation patterns vary considerably between disciplines, so comparisons are most meaningful among journals working in similar subject areas.

Where available, the results may also show five-year JIF, Journal Citation Indicator, quartile and category rank. These additional measures can provide useful context, especially when two journals have similar JIF values.

Records with missing or placeholder JIF values are excluded from the finder. For any decision involving submission, assessment, promotion or institutional reporting, verify the current metric with the official source.
